Easy Frito Taco Pie (A Super Fun Ground Beef Dinner!)

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Description

This Frito Taco Pie features seasoned ground beef layered with crispy Fritos corn chips, melted cheese, and sour cream, all baked in a flaky crescent roll crust. It is the perfect fun family dinner for busy weeknights or whenever you want a satisfying meal that comes together in minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1 tube Pillsbury crescent rolls, or similar refrigerated crescent dough
  • 1 pound ground beef, 80/20 blend works best
  • 1 packet taco seasoning, or homemade seasoning blend
  • 2 cups Fritos corn chips, plus more for topping
  • 1 cup shredded cheese, cheddar, Mexican blend, or your favorite
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • Optional taco toppings, shredded lettuce, diced tomato, sliced avocado, jalapeños, black olives, salsa, or extra sour cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 375°F and lightly grease a 9-inch pie dish or round baking dish.
  2. Press the crust: Unroll the crescent roll dough and press it into the bottom and up the sides of the prepared dish, sealing any perforations. Bake for 5-7 minutes until just beginning to set.
  3. Brown the beef: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef for 5-7 minutes, breaking it apart as it cooks, until no longer pink. Drain excess fat if needed.
  4. Season the beef: Add the taco seasoning packet and 1/4 cup water to the cooked beef, stirring well. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  5. Combine with sour cream: Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the sour cream until the beef mixture is well coated.
  6. Layer the Fritos: Spread half of the Fritos corn chips evenly across the bottom of the partially baked crust.
  7. Add the beef: Pour the seasoned beef mixture over the Fritos layer, spreading it in an even layer.
  8. Top with cheese: Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the beef, then top with the remaining Fritos corn chips.
  9. Bake until golden: Bake for 15-18 minutes until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
