Lazy Lasagna

Lazy Lasagna

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Description

This Lazy Lasagna skips the traditional pasta sheets in favor of frozen cheese ravioli, layered with jarred pasta sauce and plenty of melted mozzarella and parmesan for a shortcut version that delivers authentic Italian comfort food. Perfect for busy weeknights or whenever you crave homemade lasagna without the lengthy preparation.

Ingredients

  • 1 (24 oz) bag frozen cheese ravioli, no need to thaw
  • 1 (24 oz) jar pasta sauce, marinara, vodka, or your favorite variety
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella, heaping for maximum cheese coverage
  • 1/2 cup shredded parmesan, for extra richness and tang
  • Fresh basil, red pepper flakes, extra virgin olive oil, garlic powder, or Italian seasoning, optional for garnish and flavor enhancement

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with olive oil or cooking spray.
  2. Layer the Base: Spread about 1/2 cup of pasta sauce on the bottom of the prepared baking dish, creating an even layer that covers the entire base.
  3. Add Ravioli: Arrange half of the frozen cheese ravioli in a single layer over the sauce, leaving minimal gaps but not forcing them tightly together.
  4. Build the Middle: Pour about 3/4 of the remaining sauce over the ravioli layer, then sprinkle 1 cup of mozzarella and 1/4 cup of parmesan evenly across the top.
  5. Final Layer: Arrange the remaining frozen ravioli on top, followed by the last of the sauce, the remaining mozzarella, and the final 1/4 cup of parmesan.
  6. Bake: Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 30 to 35 minutes until the cheese is melted and the edges are bubbling.
  7. Finish: Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes if you prefer the top cheese slightly browned and crispy. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
