Ritz Cracker Party Sandwiches

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 24 servings

Description

These Ritz Cracker Party Sandwiches feature tender ham and melted Swiss cheese layered between golden Ritz crackers, brushed with a buttery Dijon mustard mixture and topped with poppy seeds. Perfect for parties, potlucks, and entertaining, these bite-sized treats come together quickly and deliver impressive flavor with minimal effort.

Ingredients

  • 48 Ritz crackers, use the original flavor for best results
  • 8 slices ham, deli-style or honey ham works well
  • 8 slices Swiss cheese, freshly sliced or pre-packaged
  • 1/4 cup melted butter, unsalted or salted, your preference
  • 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard, adds a subtle tangy kick
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, enhances the savory profile
  • 1 teaspoon poppy seeds, for a subtle nutty finish

Instructions

  1. Lay Out Crackers: Arrange 24 Ritz crackers on a parchment-lined baking sheet, leaving a little space between each one.
  2. Layer the Fillings: Cut each ham slice into 3 pieces and place one piece on each cracker, then top with a small square of Swiss cheese cut to fit.
  3. Top with Crackers: Cover each sandwich with a second cracker to create a complete sandwich, pressing gently so the layers hold together.
  4. Prepare the Topping: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, Dijon mustard, and garlic powder, stirring until smooth and well blended.
  5. Brush the Mixture: Using a pastry brush or small spoon, carefully brush the butter and mustard mixture over the top of each cracker sandwich.
  6. Add Poppy Seeds: Sprinkle poppy seeds evenly over all the sandwiches, or add your chosen optional toppings at this point.
  7. Bake: Place in a preheated 350°F oven for 12 to 15 minutes, until the crackers are golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  8. Cool Slightly: Remove from the oven and let sit for 2 to 3 minutes before serving, allowing the cheese to set just enough to hold the sandwich together.
