The BEST 5 Ingredient Berry Cobbler (Made with Frozen Fruit, Cake Mix & Oats)

  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings

Description

This easy berry cobbler features frozen mixed berries topped with a buttery cake mix and oat crumble that bakes into a golden, crunchy topping. Perfect for busy weeknights or whenever you need a homemade dessert that takes minimal effort but tastes absolutely delicious.

Ingredients

  • 2 (12 oz) bags frozen mixed berries, no need to thaw
  • 1 box yellow cake mix, or vanilla cake mix
  • 0.5 cup salted butter, melted
  • 0.5 cup old-fashioned oats, rolled oats
  • 0.5 cup chopped walnuts, pecans work as a substitute
  • vanilla ice cream, optional but recommended for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and allow it to heat for about 5 minutes while you assemble your ingredients.
  2. Add Berries to Dish: Pour frozen mixed berries directly into a 9×13-inch baking dish, spreading them evenly across the bottom without thawing.
  3. Mix Dry Topping: In a medium bowl, combine the dry cake mix, oats, and chopped walnuts until evenly distributed, about 1 minute of gentle stirring.
  4. Add Butter: Drizzle the melted butter over the dry mixture and stir until everything is moistened and crumbly, resembling coarse breadcrumbs, about 2 minutes.
  5. Distribute Topping: Spread the butter-mixture topping evenly over the frozen berries, pressing down gently so it stays in place during baking.
  6. Bake the Cobbler: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes until the topping is golden brown and berry juices bubble around the edges.
  7. Cool Before Serving: Remove from the oven and let it cool for 5-10 minutes before serving to allow the filling to set slightly.
  8. Serve with Ice Cream: Top each serving with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream and enjoy warm.
